Aflateen+

Aflateen+

Aflateen+ is an educational programme that aims to transform the lives of girls and boys ages 14 to 18 years by economically empowering participants so they can fully exercise their citizenship rights through life skills, financial education, sexual and reproductive health rights and entrepreneurship with a gender lens.

Aflateen+ seeks to take adolescents on a journey of learning and growth which helps to fulfil their potential, develop their skills to become change-makers in their communities, challenge restrictive gender norms and make their own choices about their bodies, health, and lives. The programme is designed for both girls and boys engaging everyone in an equal manner and can also be used with girls-only groups, if this is preferred.

The Aflateen+ curriculum provides components on subjects like human rights, sexual and reproductive health, and making life choices around education, career, marriage and children (and how they all are interlinked) which offers a wider context to participants when used or integrated into a variety of programme models and interventions. The skills and innovative strategies of adolescents (especially girls and young women) are developed through complementary activities that support their transition through school and to adulthood.

The Implementation of the Aflateen+ project is done in selected schools. Youth Line Forum is partnering with schools such as Kyambogo College School and Gayaza Road Secondary School to implement the project. The Implementation of the Aflateen+ is supported by Aflatoun International and Dioraphte Foundation
